HKM-3816019

1500 W 31 mph Fat Tire Electric Bike

The HKM-3816019 is built around a moped-style high-tensile steel frame with a low standover height and a long, flat saddle. The low top tube and upright riding position keep the rider comfortable at a traffic light and make it easy to put both feet down without swinging a leg over a high bar.

Key Features

8 details that make the HKM-3816019 a dependable ride.

1500 W Brushless Front Hub Motor

A 1500 W brushless motor is laced directly into the front wheel hub. There is no chain or belt between the motor and the ground, so drive losses stay low and maintenance is limited to keeping the axle nuts torqued. Peak output handles steep neighborhood grades and pulls away confidently from a stop at an intersection.

48 V 36 Ah Lithium Pack (1728 Wh)

The pack sits in the down tube behind a key-lock cover and lifts out with a key for indoor charging. 1728 Wh is enough for a full week of short commutes between charges. A full recharge from empty takes about 3 hours with the included fast charger; partial top-ups take proportionally less.

Full Suspension: Lockable Front Fork + Rear Coil Shock

A hydraulic front fork with mechanical lockout smooths out broken pavement and gravel when unlocked, and firms up for efficient pedaling on smooth roads when locked. A frame-mounted rear coil shock takes care of the larger hits. Riders who commute on mixed surfaces typically leave the fork unlocked; riders on dedicated bike paths lock it out.

Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Sealed hydraulic lines actuate both calipers. Lever effort stays light and predictable when the rotors get hot, and there are no cables to stretch or corrode. Power-off brake levers cut motor drive the instant either lever is pulled - a meaningful safety feature on a 31 mph bike.

7-Speed Derailleur Drivetrain

A 7-speed derailleur with an index shifter gives usable pedaling cadence from walking pace up to cruising speed. The wide gear range is what lets heavier riders climb the grades the motor is rated for without overheating the battery.

20 x 4.0 in All-Terrain Fat Tires

Run at low pressure the wide casing spreads rider and cargo weight over a large contact patch. The same tires add grip and comfort on gravel, wet pavement, light snow, and park paths where a narrower tire would skate around on the loose surface.

LED Headlight and Integrated Brake Light

A bright LED headlight runs off the main pack so there are no separate batteries to keep charged. A brake light that illuminates whenever either brake lever is pulled adds visibility from behind - useful in traffic and at dusk. The motor housing and connectors are sealed to IP65.

Long Moped Saddle with Rear Cargo Rack

A wide moped-style saddle with a backrest keeps the rider planted on long rides; a rear cargo rack is sized for panniers, a backpack, or a small crate. Combined cargo capacity on the rack is roughly 60 lb.

Overview

Built for the ride ahead.

The HKM-3816019 is built around a moped-style high-tensile steel frame with a low standover height and a long, flat saddle. The low top tube and upright riding position keep the rider comfortable at a traffic light and make it easy to put both feet down without swinging a leg over a high bar. The frame is rated for a combined rider-and-cargo load of 330 lb, which covers an adult rider plus a loaded rear rack or a backpack and groceries. Underneath the styling is a modern electric drivetrain: a 1500 W brushless front hub motor with a higher peak output for short bursts on hills and starts from a standstill, fed by a 48 V 36 Ah lithium pack that stores roughly 1728 Wh of energy. The twist throttle gives immediate, clutch-free acceleration; a 7-speed derailleur and 5 pedal-assist levels let you add human power when you want to extend the range. Real-world range is wide because the bike adapts to how you ride. Throttle-only on flat pavement at moderate speed returns around 19-25 mi. Moderate pedal-assist on the same terrain stretches that to 30-37 mi.

Suspension Smooths the Small Stuff

Suspension smooths the small stuff so the ride on the HKM-3816019 stays quiet over broken pavement.

HKM-3816019 Suspension Smooths Small

Reliability is a feeling first and a number second. The finish is the kind you notice with your hands before your eyes. The HKM-3816019 pairs a 1500 W brushless front hub motor, 2000 W peak, 48 V 36 Ah lithium-ion (1728 Wh), removable and key-lock, a range of 19-37 mi (31-60 km), varies with terrain, rider weight, and assist level, so it is built for real-world rides rather than showroom specs.

Battery, Range, and Charging

Up to 19-37 mi (31-60 km) per charge.

The 48 V 36 Ah pack stores 1728 Wh of energy. For context, most commuter e-bikes ship with 400-600 Wh, so this pack runs roughly 200-300 percent above the usual energy budget. That headroom is what lets the bike handle a throttle-only commute at 20 mph on flat pavement without range anxiety at the end of the work day. Real-world range depends on four variables more than anything else: how much you pedal, rider and cargo weight, tire pressure, and terrain. Throttle-only riding on flat pavement at moderate speed lands in the 19-25 mi band. Moderate pedal-assist on the same terrain regularly returns 30-37 mi. Aggressive pedaling at low assist on level ground has been measured at the top of the rated band from a full charge. Cold weather below 40 F (4 C) temporarily reduces available capacity by 10-20 percent; it returns once the pack warms up.

Pro tip: The pack unlocks with the supplied key and lifts out of the down tube in a few seconds, so you can charge it at a desk while the bike stays locked outside. Two keys are included. Charging with the pack installed works equally well - the charge port is accessible from the drive side without removing anything.

Daily Use & Care

A short routine keeps the ride quiet and the range where it should be.

Tire pressure sets the character of the bike. Run 15-20 psi on pavement for lower rolling resistance; drop to 10-12 psi for gravel and dirt so the tire can flatten and grip the surface.

Rinse the frame, rims, and drivetrain with fresh water after riding on salted roads or wet gravel. Road film attacks steel fasteners over time if left in place.

Check that both axle nuts and the stem bolts are torqued before the first ride of each week. Hub-motor torque works fasteners loose faster than on a conventional bicycle.

Wipe and re-lubricate the chain every 100-150 mi, or after any ride through standing water or dusty conditions.

Inspect brake pad thickness monthly. Hydraulic pads wear silently until they are gone; replace when the friction material is under 1 mm.

Charge indoors at room temperature. Unplug the charger once the indicator turns green rather than leaving it connected for days.

Keep the display and charge port covers closed when the bike is parked outside so moisture stays out of the connectors.

Why Choose the HKM-3816019

6 reasons it earns its place.

Moped Style for City and Trail

A low moped frame, a wide backrest saddle, a rear cargo rack, and an upright riding position turn this bike into a practical daily tool rather than a recreational toy. You can run errands, drop bags on the rack, or commute to work on the same bike without swapping seats or adding accessories.

Full Suspension for Real Roads

Potholes, expansion joints, brick-paved lanes, and gravel shortcuts all become rideable surfaces when the front fork and rear shock absorb what a rigid frame would transmit directly to the rider. The fork lockout lets you firm the ride up on smooth pavement.

Two Ways to Ride

Twist the throttle for immediate motorcycle-style acceleration, or shift through the 7-speed cassette and pedal. Most owners mix both - throttle to get moving from a stop, pedals to extend the range, and motor for hills.

Direct-Drive Simplicity

The motor lives in the front hub with no mid-drive gearbox, belt, or extra chain to service. Fewer moving parts in the drive path means less to maintain and a notably quiet ride.

Low Standover Moped Geometry

The 20 in wheel size combined with the dropped top tube lowers standover height so most riders can put both feet down at a stop. Combined with the recommended height range of 5 ft 3 in to 6 ft 4 in, the bike fits a wider range of rider sizes than a conventional diamond frame.

Built for Daily Use

Sealed IP65 electrical connectors, a covered and key-lock battery compartment, and hydraulic brake lines that cannot corrode in road film all make sense for a bike that gets ridden to work every day and parked outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the HKM-3816019.

How much assembly is required out of the box?

The bike ships approximately 85 percent assembled. Remaining steps are fitting the front wheel, straightening and bolting the handlebar, installing the pedals and saddle, checking brake alignment, and fitting the rear rack. Budget 30-45 minutes with the supplied tools. Have a bike shop check torque and brake bedding if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

What is the actual range I should plan for?

Plan for 19-37 mi depending on how much you pedal. Throttle-only riding at higher speeds lands closer to 19-25 mi. Moderate pedal-assist on mixed terrain regularly returns 30-37 mi. Heavier riders, headwinds, hills, and low tire pressure all reduce range.

Is a license or registration required?

Rules vary by state and locality. A 1500 W nominal motor with higher peak output and 31 mph top speed exceeds the limits of the common three-class e-bike framework in many US jurisdictions, which may place this bike in a moped or motor-driven cycle category. Check your state DMV and local ordinances before riding on public roads or bike paths.

How long does the battery take to charge?

About 3 hours from fully empty with the supplied fast charger. Partial top-ups take proportionally less time; there is no need to run the pack down before recharging.

Can I pedal it if the battery runs out?

Yes. The 7-speed drivetrain works independently of the motor. The bike is heavy at approximately 70 lb, so pedaling home unassisted is slow going, but it is entirely possible on flat ground.

Will the brakes handle the speed and the load?

Hydraulic disc brakes front and rear are the appropriate specification for a 31 mph bike of this weight. Bed the pads in during the first few rides with 10-15 progressive stops from moderate speed to build the friction layer on the rotors. With a loaded rear rack, brake earlier than you would unloaded.

Is the battery removable for indoor charging?

Yes. It unlocks with the supplied key and lifts out of the down tube. You can also charge it in place through the frame-side charge port.

How weather-resistant is the bike?

The motor housing and all electrical connectors are sealed to IP65, so light rain and road spray will not stop a ride. Avoid pressure-washing the electrical components and do not submerge the bike.

Quick Troubleshooting

Common issues and what to check first.

The motor does not engage when I twist the throttle.

Confirm the display is on and shows charge, the battery is locked into place, and both brake levers are fully released - brake cut-off sensors disable the motor while a lever is pulled. If the display shows an error code, note it and contact support.

Range dropped noticeably compared with when it was new.

First check tire pressure; a soft tire on pavement is the most common cause. Then consider temperature - cold reduces available capacity temporarily. If range is down more than 30 percent year-round after many charge cycles, the pack may be approaching the end of its service life.

The brakes feel spongy at the lever.

Sponginess in a hydraulic system usually means air in the line or a fluid leak. Stop riding and have the system bled and inspected. Do not continue riding a 31 mph bike on compromised brakes.

The chain skips under hard pedaling.

The derailleur indexing is likely out of adjustment, or the chain and cassette are worn. Adjust the barrel adjuster a quarter turn at a time to align the indexing. If the chain skips only in the smallest cogs, the cassette is worn and should be replaced along with the chain.

The front fork rattles over bumps.

Check that the quick-release lever on the fork is fully closed and that the wheel is seated in the dropouts. If the rattle persists, the fork may need service - inspect the stanchions for scoring and have a shop rebuild the lowers if needed.

The display shows an error code and the bike will not move.

Power the system off, wait 30 seconds, and switch it back on. If the code returns, note the exact code and the conditions that produced it, then contact support - error codes map to specific faults in the controller, motor, or throttle circuits.

From Frame to Wheels

From the frame to the wheels, the HKM-3816019 is built for consistent, confident performance.

HKM-3816019 From Frame Wheels

The specifications above show exactly what is under the surface, and the ride proves it every time.

Pre-Ride Safety Checklist

Run through these before every ride.

Check tire pressure and set it for the terrain you plan to ride: 15-20 psi for pavement, 10-12 psi for gravel or dirt.

Squeeze both brake levers. They should firm up well before reaching the grip, with no sponginess that would indicate air in the hydraulic line.

Confirm the battery is seated and locked, and that the display shows the expected state of charge.

Spin both wheels and check that the rims run true and nothing rubs the brake pads or the frame.

Verify the axle nuts are tight, and that the headset has no play when you rock the bike with the front brake applied.

Test the throttle at walking pace in a clear area before riding in traffic or with a loaded rear rack.

Switch on the headlight and tail-light if you will be riding near dusk, and wear a helmet rated for the speeds this bike reaches.

If carrying cargo on the rear rack, confirm the load is under 60 lb and secured before riding.

Important Safety Notes

Read before the first ride.

This 1500 W bike is rated at 31 mph. Read the manual first and practise throttle and braking in an open, traffic-free area. Leave extra room for braking, since stopping distance grows fast with speed and load. Wear a helmet every ride; a certified downhill or motorcycle helmet is wise at 31 mph. Do not exceed the 330 lb (150 kg) load limit, including rider, cargo, and rack load. Confirm local law before riding on public roads. Bed the brakes in with 10-15 progressive stops over the first rides. Never ride through water deep enough to reach the motor or battery. Charge only with the supplied charger, indoors and attended. Never open, puncture, or modify the pack. Slow down substantially on gravel, wet surfaces, and steep descents.
