Materials and Construction

The shell is steel with a vacuum gap behind it, coated in a gloss colour that carries a long specular highlight down the belly. The shoulder, spout and lid are black mouldings — the shoulder wraps the neck in one piece, and the spout is a beak pinched out of it rather than a separate tube. The handle is a flat black strap that rises from the shoulder, arcs out and returns to the base.

The lid is a dome with a lever set across its crown; the lever is the pour control and sits under the thumb when the hand is on the handle. The lid seats inside the neck on a seal, and the whole assembly lifts off for filling.

Care and Maintenance

Rinse the liner with warm water after use and leave the lid off to dry, so the valve and the seal are not kept wet. Tea and coffee tannin lift with a warm soak and a little bicarbonate; a soft brush reaches the floor of the belly. Strong chlorine and aggressive descalers are not for stainless.

The gloss shell wipes with a damp cloth and should not be immersed, since the vacuum seam at the base is sealed rather than welded shut. Neither pot nor lid is dishwasher safe. Store it with the lid loose so air moves through the liner.
