Overview

The HKM-8900819 is built around a high-carbon steel frame with a low horizontal top tube and a long cafe-racer saddle. The riding position is upright and relaxed, with a wide handlebar that provides leverage for slow-speed maneuvers and stability on loose surfaces.

A 750 W nominal brushless rear hub motor with a 1000 W peak rating drives the rear wheel directly. The 48 V 13 Ah lithium battery stores 624 Wh and is removable for indoor charging. A twist throttle gives immediate acceleration, while a 7-speed Shimano derailleur and five pedal-assist levels let you balance speed and range.

Range varies with how much you pedal. Throttle-only riding on flat pavement typically covers 25-32 mi. Mixed pedal-assist use stretches that to 35-45 mi. Heavier loads, soft terrain, headwinds, and cold weather all reduce range; smooth pavement and moderate assist extend it.

The dual-crown aluminum front fork and rear coil shock absorb potholes and trail chatter, while the 20 in knobby fat tires provide flotation on gravel, sand, and grass. Mechanical disc brakes at both wheels deliver predictable stopping power, and the circular LED headlight improves visibility after dark.

Key Features

750 W Brushless Rear Hub Motor

A 750 W brushless motor with a 1000 W peak rating is laced into the rear wheel hub. The direct-drive layout keeps maintenance simple and provides smooth, quiet acceleration from a standstill.

Cafe-Racer Saddle

A long, padded saddle runs along the top tube, giving the rider room to shift position and a comfortable perch for cruising. The raised tail adds a classic moped look while helping keep the rider centered under acceleration.

Dual-Crown Front Fork

The double-shoulder aluminum front fork adds steering stiffness and suspension travel up front. It handles broken pavement and light trail obstacles while keeping the front wheel stable under braking.

20 x 4.0 in Knobby Fat Tires

The wide, knobby tread spreads weight over a large footprint for grip on gravel, dirt, sand, and snow. The tall sidewall also cushions small impacts before they reach the frame.

Rear Coil Shock Absorber

A coil-sprung rear shock works with the soft-tail frame to isolate the saddle from bumps. The simple spring design is reliable and easy to maintain over time.

Circular LED Headlight

A round LED headlight sits in a compact housing and runs off the main battery. It provides a focused beam for night rides and adds to the bike’s front-end presence in traffic.

Mechanical Disc Brakes, Front and Rear

Cable-actuated disc calipers grip rotors at both wheels, giving consistent stopping power in wet and dry conditions. Power-off brake levers cut motor drive whenever a lever is pulled.

48 V 13 Ah Removable Lithium Pack

The 624 Wh battery locks into the frame and lifts out with a key for indoor charging. A full recharge from empty takes about 4-5 hours with the supplied 2 A charger.

Smooth Over Everything

HKM-8900819 Smooth Over Everything

Suspension smooths the small stuff so the ride on the HKM-8900819 stays quiet over broken pavement.

What looks simple took careful engineering, because less is the harder thing to earn. Good gear should ask for nothing and give back everything; that is the bar here.

Battery, Range, and Charging

The 48 V 13 Ah pack stores 624 Wh of energy. That is enough for a full day of short errands or a long weekend cruise when ridden with moderate pedal assist.

Range depends on how much you pedal, total rider and cargo weight, tire pressure, and terrain. Throttle-only riding on flat pavement at moderate speed lands in the 25-32 mi band. Moderate pedal-assist on the same terrain regularly returns 35-45 mi. Cold weather below 40 F (4 C) temporarily reduces available capacity by 10-20 percent; it returns once the pack warms up.

Tip: Store the pack between 30 and 70 percent charge if the bike will sit unused for more than a month, and top it up every 4-6 weeks. Charging indoors at room temperature extends usable pack life compared with charging in an unheated garage.

The pack unlocks with the supplied key and lifts out of the frame in a few seconds, so you can charge it at a desk while the bike stays locked outside. Two keys are included. Charging with the pack installed works equally well through the frame-side charge port.

Daily Use & Care

  • Tire pressure sets the character of the ride. Run 15-20 psi on pavement for lower rolling resistance; drop to 10-12 psi for gravel and dirt so the tire can flatten and grip.
  • Rinse the frame, rims, and drivetrain with fresh water after riding on salted roads or wet gravel. Road film attacks steel fasteners over time if left in place.
  • Check that both axle nuts and the stem bolts are torqued before the first ride of each week. Hub-motor torque works fasteners loose faster than on a conventional bicycle.
  • Wipe and re-lubricate the chain every 100-150 mi, or after any ride through standing water or dusty conditions.
  • Inspect brake pad thickness monthly. Mechanical pads wear faster in wet conditions; replace when the friction material is under 1 mm.
  • Charge indoors at room temperature. Unplug the charger once the indicator turns green rather than leaving it connected for days.
  • Keep the display and charge port covers closed when the bike is parked outside so moisture stays out of the connectors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much assembly is required out of the box?+
The bike ships approximately 85 percent assembled. Remaining steps are fitting the front wheel, straightening and bolting the handlebar, installing the pedals and saddle, and checking brake alignment. Budget 30-45 minutes with the supplied tools. Have a bike shop check torque and brake bedding if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.
Can I ride this on public roads?+
Rules vary by state and locality. A 750 W nominal motor with 1000 W peak output and a 28 mph top speed may exceed the common three-class e-bike limits in some US jurisdictions, which can place this bike in a moped or motor-driven cycle category. Check your state DMV and local ordinances before riding on public roads or bike paths.
What is the actual range I should plan for?+
Plan for 32-45 mi depending on how much you pedal. Throttle-only riding at higher speeds lands closer to 25-32 mi. Moderate pedal-assist on mixed terrain regularly returns 35-45 mi. Heavier riders, headwinds, hills, and low tire pressure all reduce range.
How long does the battery take to charge?+
About 4-5 hours from fully empty with the supplied 2 A charger. Partial top-ups take proportionally less time; there is no need to run the pack down before recharging.
Can I pedal it if the battery runs out?+
Yes. The 7-speed Shimano derailleur works independently of the motor. The bike is heavy at approximately 84 lb, so pedaling home unassisted is slow going, but it is possible on flat ground.
Is the battery removable for indoor charging?+
Yes. It unlocks with the supplied key and lifts out of the frame. You can also charge it in place through the frame-side charge port.
What kind of brakes does it have?+
Mechanical disc brakes front and rear. They are easy to adjust and provide strong, predictable stopping power for a 28 mph bike. Bed the pads in during the first few rides with 10-15 progressive stops from moderate speed.
Does the headlight run off the main battery?+
Yes. The LED headlight and brake-activated tail-light both draw from the main pack, so there are no small coin-cell or AAA batteries to replace.

Why Choose the HKM-8900819

Cafe-Racer Style, City Stance

The low horizontal frame, long saddle, round headlight, and fat tires give the bike a classic moped look that is easy to handle at low speed and comfortable on longer cruises.

Full Suspension for Mixed Surfaces

A dual-crown front fork and rear coil shock take the edge off potholes, gravel, and dirt. Riders who split time between pavement and trails get a smoother ride without changing tires.

Two Ways to Ride

Twist the throttle for instant acceleration, or shift through the 7-speed cassette and pedal. Most owners mix both - throttle from a stop, pedals to extend range, and motor for hills.

Direct-Drive Simplicity

The motor lives in the rear hub with no mid-drive gearbox or extra chain to service. Fewer moving parts in the drive path mean less maintenance and a quieter ride.

Compact 20 in Wheels

The 20 in wheel diameter lowers the center of gravity and keeps the bike maneuverable in tight spaces. Combined with the recommended height range of 5 ft 2 in to 6 ft 5 in, it fits a wide range of riders.

Built for Daily Use

Sealed electrical connectors, a covered and lockable battery compartment, and a steel frame with a baked finish all make sense for a bike that is parked outside and ridden in varied weather.

Pre-Ride Safety Checklist

  1. Check tire pressure and set it for the terrain you plan to ride: 15-20 psi for pavement, 10-12 psi for gravel or dirt.
  2. Squeeze both brake levers. They should firm up well before reaching the grip, with no cable slack that would reduce stopping power.
  3. Confirm the battery is seated and locked, and that the display shows the expected state of charge.
  4. Spin both wheels and check that the rims run true and nothing rubs the brake pads or the frame.
  5. Verify the axle nuts and stem bolts are tight, and that the headset has no play when you rock the bike with the front brake applied.
  6. Test the throttle at walking pace in a clear area before riding in traffic or at full speed.
  7. Switch on the headlight and tail-light if you will be riding near dusk, and wear a helmet rated for the speeds this bike reaches.
  8. Inspect the rear shock for visible damage or leaks before each ride.

Quick Troubleshooting

The motor does not engage when I twist the throttle.+
Confirm the display is on and shows charge, the battery is locked into place, and both brake levers are fully released - brake cut-off sensors disable the motor while a lever is pulled. If the display shows an error code, note it and contact support.
Range dropped noticeably compared with when it was new.+
First check tire pressure; a soft tire on pavement is the most common cause. Then consider temperature - cold reduces available capacity temporarily. If range is down more than 30 percent year-round after many charge cycles, the pack may be approaching the end of its service life.
The brakes feel weak or the lever pulls to the grip.+
Cable-actuated mechanical brakes need periodic adjustment as pads wear. Tighten the barrel adjuster a few turns to take up cable slack. If the pads are thin, replace them before riding at speed.
The chain skips under hard pedaling.+
The derailleur indexing is likely out of adjustment, or the chain and cassette are worn. Adjust the barrel adjuster a quarter turn at a time to align the indexing. If the chain skips only in the smallest cogs, the cassette is worn and should be replaced along with the chain.
The front fork rattles over bumps.+
Check that the front axle nuts are tight and the wheel is fully seated in the dropouts. If the rattle persists, inspect the fork crown bolts and have a shop service the fork if needed.
The display shows an error code and the bike will not move.+
Power the system off, wait 30 seconds, and switch it back on. If the code returns, note the exact code and the conditions that produced it, then contact support - error codes map to specific faults in the controller, motor, or throttle circuits.

Certifications & Standards

The HKM-8900819 is produced in a facility operating under an ISO 9001 quality management system. The battery cells and the assembled pack carry the test documentation normally required for lithium-ion transport and sale.

  • CE - European Conformity marking covering the electrical assembly.
  • RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Substances compliance for the electronics.
  • UN38.3 - Battery transport safety testing, required for lithium-ion shipping by air, sea, and road.
  • MSDS - Material Safety Data Sheet available for the battery pack on request.
  • ISO 9001 - Quality management system certification held by the manufacturing facility.

Important Safety Notes

This is a high-output electric bike capable of 28 mph. Read the manual fully before the first ride and practice throttle control in an open, traffic-free area until the response feels predictable.

  • Wear a helmet on every ride. At 28 mph a bicycle helmet is the minimum; many riders choose a certified motorcycle or downhill helmet.
  • Do not exceed the 330 lb (150 kg) load capacity, which includes the rider and cargo.
  • Check local law before riding on public roads or paths. A 750 W motor with 1000 W peak output and 28 mph top speed may place this vehicle outside standard e-bike classifications.
  • Bed in the brake pads with 10-15 progressive stops during the first few rides before riding at full speed.
  • Do not ride through water deep enough to reach the hub motor or the battery compartment.
  • Charge only with the supplied charger, indoors, at room temperature, and on a non-flammable surface. Do not leave a charging battery unattended overnight.
  • Do not attempt to open, puncture, or modify the battery pack. Damaged lithium packs can vent and ignite.
  • Reduce speed substantially on gravel, wet surfaces, and downhill grades; fat tires add grip but do not eliminate the risk of losing traction.
